Telephone Pole

Greek who owned the grocery store in Crete used to scratch his head and watch dad haul strange things home. One time dad acquired a telephone pole. He tied a trailer to the end of the pole and the pole to the end of his car. Hauled it all the way to Beecher like that. And a chicken house on that little trailer too.

Water Skiing Part 2

 He took one of the men from Bloom skiing and the guy kept waving him off. He was tired and wanted to land but dad kept going around and around and wouldn't take him to shore. Finally he took him in then it was his turn and I was riding while Bill was driving the boat and he looked at me and said "let's wear his A-- out." Dad finally had to drop off. 

Water Skiing

 In Wisconsin one time he took a few minutes from a chore to show me how to water ski. He was wearing long pants and a t-shirt, but didn't want to change into swimsuit. He sat on the dock, put the skis on then decided, for whatever reason, that one pant leg had to go. He reached down, ripped it off at the knee, and yelled "go". Somewhere I have a picture of him skiing, fully dressed, one long leg, one short!!

Fun Ride

He also wanted to create a fun ride for all the kids. There were 13 of them (two were the oldest sister's kids) She had died. So he got this big rain coat and put it on a calf and tied a wagon to the calf. What the rain coat was for I don't know. But they chose the youngest kid to try it out. (Uncle Archie) and the calf went to trotting and the raincoat scared it and it took off like a crazy bucking bronc and threw Archie out. He started to cry and one of them said "you be quiet or we won't let you ride again." lol

Skunk

He had an encounter with a skunk once and he wanted to "fix" his gloves, so he washed them and put them in the oven to dry. You know the rest of the story

"Washing Machine"

He also invented a "washing machine" for his mom when he was a kid. He rigged up one of those turn around clothes lines to a windmill and a horse tank. The clothes would splash into the tank, into the water, spin around, splash again. Worked really well, unless you went off and left it. His mom came back to shredded clothes.
